Known as the Datsun Pickup, it was more than a new entry, it as an entirely new concept that became known as the compact truck. As revolutionary as that was, it soon became one of the best-selling vehicles in the United States and the world.
1979 saw the last of the Datsun name and the Nissan brand took over prominence. Due to their great success, Nissan made a corporate decision to become the first importer to manufacture pickups in the United States.
